This good quality, George III period silver vinaigrette has an attractive gilt interior with foliate decorated hinged grille.
Made by the specialist silver box maker William Edwards, this rectangular antique vinaigrette has an engine turned exterior with the gilt interior bearing the full set of London hallmarks. It is in fine condition.
Vinaigrettes held aromatic sponges within the base that could be held up to the nose to protect the owner from the foul smells of city streets.
