Lemon Strainer - Circular with Single Handle & Hook - London 1788 by Robert Hennell - 17.5cm wide; 10.7cm diameter; 95g - WF/4047
This is a large George III silver lemon strainer made by one of the best silversmiths of the period, Robert Hennell.
Used to prevent fruit pips spoiling the punch, lemon strainers were a prerequisite of Georgian parties for adding fruit juices to the mix and ideal in modern times for cocktails too. This antique lemon strainer has a single large, looped handle and a hook for hanging over a bowl or goblet. It has a most attractive pierced design to the circular bowl and benefits from being in fine condition.
