Toothpick Box - Navette-shaped, Bright-cut Engraved - Birmingham 1784 by John Guest (incuse duty mark) - 8cm long x 2.7cm wide; 25g - SJ/1863
This beautiful silver toothpick box is attractively engraved with bright-cut engraving and has a well-made flush hinge to the top cover. Opening the box reveals a bevelled mirror inside the lid. The underside of the box is clearly marked for a scarce and early Birmingham box maker and includes the incuse duty mark which is not frequently encountered on Birmingham made silver. The box is in excellent condition throughout with no personalised initials nor any erasures.
