Snuff Box - Engine Turned - Birmingham 1830 by Nathaniel Mills - 8.4cm x 3.7cm; 82g - FD/9133
This is a fine quality silver snuff box with clear marks for the important box maker Nathaniel Mills. The box has a good hefty weight in the hand and retains its original gilding to the inside. It is in excellent condition with hallmarks spread in Birmingham box style. There is a Latin presentation inscription to the central cartouche that reads:
"vivo optumo medico eximio pro salute, sub Deo conservata debitas donatoris gratias magnas parvum donum testator Mai 1836" which roughly translates to " to the best physician for outstanding conduct, accept this with God's will as a small token of our esteem May 1836".
