Sugar Nips - London circa 1760 by Richard Mills - 11.5cm long; 34g - BV/5011

These are a good pair of Georgian silver sugar nips or tea tongs made in the middle of the 18th century by Richard Mills.

They are in the typical scissor-action form with engraved initials to the central boss. Interestingly, the initials are "II*I" where each letter "I" is the old form of the modern day "J" and most likely represented a betrothal (e.g. John and Jane Jones). The finer rings are both marked in typical form with a lion passant and "RM" maker's mark.

These sugar nips are in excellent condition with neither damage nor repair.
