Asparagus Tongs - Fiddle, Thread & Shell pattern - London 1838 by William Knight - 28.5cm long; 238g - QT/1477

These are a wonderful quality pair of antique silver asparagus servers in the highly desirable fiddle, thread and shell pattern.

These large tongs were made by William Knight who specialised in the manufacture of fine quality silver serving items. The fiddle, thread and shell decoration is super-crisp throughout, plus there are no personalised engravings (nor any erasures). The two serving grips are beautifully pierced and as with the best quality serving tongs, the arms are prevented from being over-stretched by the presence of a retainer bar around the mid-section.

These are an excellent pair of silver asparagus tongs in fine condition.
