Asparagus Tongs - Fiddle & Thread pattern - London 1846 by Joseph & Albert Savoury - 26.8cm long; 208g - PR/1476

These are a fine quality pair of early Victorian silver asparagus serving tongs in the popular Fiddle & Thread pattern.

Made by the premier silversmithing partnership of Joseph & Albert Savoury, these tongs have a good hefty feel in the hand and have the typical features of asparagus servers of this period - beautifully pierced arms to allow straining, lip to one arm to prevent slippage and restrainer bar to the centre to prevent over-stretching. In addition, they have the bonus of a cheeky engraved crest to the bow featuring a winking stag!

These lovely silver serving tongs remain in fine condition.
