Moustache Spoon - Sheffield 1891 by John Round - 22.7cm long; 102g - TC/6111

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is the first time we have come across this unusual model of silver moustache spoon.

The spoon has a hinged cover to the bowl with outlets to the side to protect the dignity of a mustachioed gentleman whilst supping soup! This a good sized table spoon and is decorated with the Prince of Wales's feathers emanating from the royal crown to the terminal.

Made by John Round, the design was patented and the reverse of the shank is stamped with "DEVERS PATENT 13303" as well the Sheffield hallmarks for 1891. Given the scarcity of extant examples it was presumably not a successful model and as such makes for a great collectors piece! The spoon is in excellent, probably unused, condition.
