Nutmeg Grater - Cylindrical - Birmingham 1791 by Samuel Pemberton - 3.2cm high; 2.2cm diameter base; 11g - EQ/3159

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This small silver nutmeg grater was made in the workshop of the prolific Samuel Pemberton and would have been used to flavour toddies and desserts. It is cylindrical in form with a pull-off domed cap revealing a steel rasp. Once grated, the spice can be retrieved from the underside by removing the flat base. The cap is faintly engraved with an original "B" in script and a full set of hallmarks is located to the inside of the flat base. This is a nice piece of Georgian social history at a very competitive price.
