This good quality Georgian silver marrow scoop is engraved to the reverse side of the wider scoop with an original finely engraved crest and motto - the latter reading "Diriget Deus" which translates to "May God Direct".
The marrow scoop takes the standard double ended form and was the perfect implement for eating the Georgian delicacy of marrowfat. This example was made in London by the top specialist silver flatware maker William Eaton and is stamped with an excellent set of hallmarks. Fine condition throughout.
