Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a good-looking, Victorian silver card case contained within its original presentation case.

Originally used for holding visiting cards, this beautiful hinged case is decorated with an engraved swirl of floral scrolls to both sides. Opening the hinged top reveals the clear Birmingham hallmarks and shows the box to have been made by Edward Smith.

The presence of the original presentation box has preserved the card case in superb crisp condition; the box itself is a little worn as the spine of the hinge has loosened making it quite fragile to open and close. The presentation case has a label inside the silk lined cover with the name of the initial retailer "Horner Goldsmith Halifax" which relates to the famous Charles Horner who was later to become particularly famous for his Art Nouveau silver hat pins and range of thimbles.
