Sorry, this item is out of stock.

Jockey cap silver caddy spoons take many different forms as can be seen in the final photo which shows a small selection currently being offered. Mostly they are engraved or chased, however this one has a rare basket weave side with plain button to the top and an attractively engraved visor, complete with vacant, shield-shaped cartouche.

In-line with many Georgian jockey cap caddy spoons, this one is n't marked, however it was almost certainly made by Joseph Taylor circa 1800 with the engraving to the peak typical of his output. Unlike many jockey caps that were made in one piece from sheet silver, this example has had the visor applied and the seam connecting the two is a little untidy at both ends - a sign of the difficulty of manufacture rather than an issue with the integrity of the piece. Otherwise in excellent condition, this is is a fine example of a rare spoon.
