This is a fabulous Victorian silver stilton cheese scoop in the popular fiddle, thread & shell pattern.
Used for scooping out lumps of cheese from a round of stilton, these utensils are traditionally used at Christmas time, but can also be an excellent year round addition to a cheese board. At 9.25" in length, this is a good, large example with a nice hefty and sturdy feel in the hand - it will undoubtedly do the job for which it was intended!
This high quality silver stilton scoop was made by the important specialist flatware makers, Chawner & Company and remains in excellent condition with good, crisp double-struck decoration and no personalised engravings.
