Acorn Caddy Spoon, 1806

Caddy Spoon - Acorn - Birmingham 1806 by Hart & Co. - 9.4cm long; 9g - HC/1156
This is a fabulous example of the highly desirable novelty silver caddy spoon in the form of an acorn.
This specimen was made by the scarcely encountered Birmingham silversmiths Hart & Company, who appeared to have specialised in this form and made little else. It has a fiddle pattern handle that bifurcates at the junction with the bowl. The bowl is nicely modelled as an acorn with indented, lozenge shapes to the lower half and a nipple-like extension to the bowl tip. In excellent condition throughout, this is a beautiful Georgian caddy spoon.
