Cast Caddy Spoon, 1849
Caddy Spoon - Cast Architectural Handle with Gilt Scallop Bowl - London 1849 by Francis Higgins - 11.1cm long; 38g - WD/8770</p>
Francis Higgins was one of the best of all caddy spoon makers and this spoon is a fine example of his work. It has a nicely detailed cast handle with a vacant cartouche to both sides. The deep, scallop-shaped bowl with gilt interior is a joy and the reverse side is clearly struck with hallmarks. The spoon has a very good weight and consequently has a lovely, solid feel in the hand.
