Sugar Tongs - Old English pattern - York circa 1815 by James Barber & William Whitwell - 14.2cm long; 32g - MJ/6083
Made in the city of York in the early years of the 19th century, these silver sugar tongs are in the Old English pattern and bear original script engraved "EC" initials to the outside of the bow. They bear the diagnostic "JB/WW" maker's marks of Barber & Whitwell and the flat base of the lion passant punch outline confirms their provincial origin.
These Georgian sugar tongs remain in fine condition.
