Sugar Tongs with clever bright-cutting, 1785

Sugar Tongs - Bright-cut engraved - London circa 1784-86 by George Burrows - 13.8cm long; 38g - FB/7060
We don't recall seeing bright-cut engraving in this fashion before; the tracking around the bow changes style mid-way to give a pleasing effect. These Georgian silver sugar tongs are in lovely crisp condition and bear the incuse duty mark that can accurately date them to an 18 month period from late 1784 though to mid-1786. A lovely pair of sugar tongs.
