This is a rare example of a spout-hanging silver tea strainer and is one of two currently being offered (see link below for second example).

This tea strainer dates from the final year of King William IV's reign and was made by Rawlings and Summers who appear to have made the majority of these items. The circular, half-sphere strainer has a split peg for inserting inside the spout of a teapot so that when pouring the tea leaves are collected.
