Antique Silver Mote Spoon, 1750 by R Hare
£198.00
Mote Spoon - London circa 1750 by Roger Hare - 13cm long - KM/3842
This attractive George II silver mote spoon is clearly punched with the usual lion passant hallmark, plus the RH maker's mark of Roger Hare and a third unidentified 6-point star mark with "R" - most likely a continental import mark.
The spoon bowl is pierced to remove dust motes from the surface of tea and the pointed end to the handle would have been used to clean out clogged-up teapot spouts. The spoon is in excellent condition.
