Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This beautiful silver wine ewer or claret jug was made in London by the silversmithing partnership of George Richards & Edward Brown.

The elegant, elongated pear-shape form is heightened by a stunning exhibition of engraving design and execution. The detail of the decoration is quite exquisite with a combination of geometric shapes and patterns brought together with swirling tendrils. A bouquet of flowers is engraved to one cartouche, whilst the other bears an engraved armorial surmounted by a goat's head crest and the motto "Libertas" (freedom).

This 14" high Victorian ewer stands on a pedestal foot, has a solid silver handle and a hinged cover to the top. To show an extra degree of quality, the interior has been gilt. It has a generous capacity of 2.5 pints (140cl) and a nice solid feel in the hand. The quality and crisp condition of this fine piece are top notch with nothing negative to declare!
