Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a fabulous Victorian silver-gilt basket with all-over chased decoration featuring floral scrolls and fantastical birds

This navette-shaped basket stands on a pedestal foot, has a hinged swing handle and one of the two roundel cartouches is engraved with an original complex cipher. The basket would have originally been used for serving sugar for desserts such as summer berries in combination with a sifter spoon.

Made by Henry Holland, this is a top quality, heavy basket in fine condition. The hallmarks are hidden among the decoration but remain crisp and clear and the handle is appropriately part marked.
