Salver - Engraved Field with Festoon Border - London 1864 by William Smily - 20.2cm diameter; 3.5cm high; 395g - LM/7309

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a cracking 8" diameter waiter tray! The flat surface of this Victorian silver salver is superbly decorated with a beautiful engraved design around a central coat-of-arms. The border is of a most beauteous form with swags of flower garlands on a pierced trellis background rimmed with beading. The tray stands on three similarly decorated trellis feet with a swag to each.

The quartered armorial features a wolf crest and has the motto "Innocentia Quamvis In Agra Sanguinis" - the "Agra" is probably a spelling mistake for "Agro", in which case it would be the motto of the Lowe family. There are a couple of scratches to the front (upper left from Arms), but otherwise this top quality salver is in excellent all round condition.
