Sewing Etui - Valise - London 1874 by Sampson Mordan & Co. - 5.2cm x 4.3cm x 2cm; 64g - HW/1376

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

A novelty silver sewing etui in the form of a valise with side carrying handle and two buckled straps. The case is opened via a sprung clasp to reveal a gilt interior and central tool holder that is attached to and revolves on the main hinge. The tool holder consists of a tape measure (tape is present but does not pull-out), a bobbin and spool holder. These sit on top of a narrow pin box that runs the full width and has a tiny hinged cover.

Typical of the ingenuity of Sampson Mordan and in fine condition throughout, this is a fabulous piece of Victorian novelty silver.
