The lady silversmith Susanna Barker produced some wonderful silver labels famously for wine, but also for sauce and this small label is for soy sauce.
The label is formed in one of Barker's most popular designs - the navette or eye-shape and in this instance it has a reeded border. It would have hung by its chain around the neck of a glass condiment bottle as part of a sauce frame. The reverse side is stamped with appropriate hallmarks for the 1786-1790 period and includes the sought after "SB" maker's mark. Excellent condition throughout.
