This is a rare example of an antique silver sugar shovel in Stag Hunt Pattern.
This 6" long Victorian shovel was made by George Adams of Chawner & Company. The handle depicts a scene of a stag being hunted by a pack of hounds. The reverse side is decorated with hunting trophies: horn, quiver of arrows and scarf, plus a mask of a Classical goddess. The terminal is engraved with an original crest depicting a dove with olive branch.
This silver sugar spoon is in great condition with crisp condition (some very minor wear to Classical mask from table contact).
Stag Hunt pattern was designed during the Regency period by Thomas Stothard and made by Paul Storr for the Royal goldsmiths Rundell, Bridge & Rundell during the Regency period.
