Sliding mechanisms on silver stilton scoops are an interesting and desirable feature and this Samuel Pemberton example is so equipped.
Made during the reign of George III, this soft cheese scoop has a shovel-shaped bowl for digging in to the cheese and the pusher places it delicately as required on the plate or biscuit. This example has a mother-of-pearl handle and bears Birmingham hallmarks to the reverse side. It is in fine condition.
