Apple Corer - London circa 1790 by John Holloway - 15.8cm long; 32g - KN/6176

Silver apple corers were an essential tool for many wealthy Georgians for removing the core from their apples.

Most apple corers date from the early 19th century, so this late 18th century example is an early piece. It is made as a single piece with a hollow, canon-shaped silver handle fitted with a scooped corer section.

The piece bears appropriate London hallmarks for small silver pieces of the period and is clearly marked for the maker John Holloway (Grimwade 1385) who was working from Wych Street until 1793. This silver apple corer is in fine condition.
