Serving Knife & Fork (cased) - Maiden Figure Handles - London 1870 by Francis Higgins - Knife: 26.2cm long. Fork: 21.4cm long. Combined weight: 210g - NP/8651
Oozing quality throughout, these are a sumptuous pair of servers and indicative of the very best silver emanating from the workshop of Francis Higgins.
Comprising a large knife and fork, these servers would be ideal for puddings, pies and cakes and in particular for celebratory cake cutting such as at a wedding. The figural handles are expertly modelled as maidens carrying bunches of grapes and are wonderfully defined and detailed. The fork tines are cleverly made from extended vine tendrils. There is a discreet engraved crest to the lower sections of both handles and the all over gilding adds to the feeling of the very highest quality.
The case has done a fantastic job of preserving these pieces as they remain in superb condition.
