Scottish Dog Nose Table Spoon, 1719

Sold
Spoon - Dog-nose - Edinburgh 1719 - 203mm long; 70g weight - Ref. No.: BH/9517
A rare George I period Scottish Dog Nose table spoon. This spoon has a very obvious and bold dog nose terminal and a strident rattail to the reverse of the bowl. The spoon has a hefty weight and a satisfying feel in the hand. The assay office struck marks are all clear, however the maker's mark has been poorly struck and is not legible. The spoon is in overall good condition however the bowl is slightly worn - from above it looks fine but the profile view shows some wear.
A good example of a rare spoon.
