Marrow Scoop - Reversible scoops - London 1710 by William Scarlett - 20.3cm long; 29g - PN/5358a

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a very rare example of a Queen Anne period marrow scoop with the scoops at either end facing in different directions - one up and the other down. This type of reversible marrow scoop is scarce and is the first we have encountered on a Britannia Standard piece. The scoop is in excellent condition and bears an engraved betrothal triangle to the shank - "H" over "IS" - where "H" is the surname of the newly weds and the other two letters the initial letters of their first names. The Britannia Standard hallmarks are in crisp condition with all marks legible including the New Standard "Sc" maker's mark for the specialist spoonmaker William Scarlett. A fine piece!
