Sweetmeat Forks (6) - Engraved Trefid - London circa 1695 by Anthony Nelme - 11.1cm long; 55g - DG/3647

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

These are a lovely set of 17th century forks by one of the most important makers of the period. These trefid forks are beautifully decorated all over with original tendril engraving and there is a vacant cartouche to both sides. They are in fantastic condition with a clear maker's mark to each piece. Finding single 17th century trefid sweetmeat forks can be very tricky, so to find such a great set of 6 in this condition is quite a find!.

Anthony Nelme was of the most successful native English goldsmiths of the late 17th century and the early 18th and evidently ran a large workshop. His maker's mark is a distinctive "AN" conjoined.
