Silver Laceback Trefid Spoon, 1692 by Lawrence Coles
£750.00
Spoon - Trefid; Laceback - London 1692 by Lawrence Coles - 18.6cm long; 40g - HU/6594
London-made silver laceback trefid spoons are relatively rare and this is a great example from the reign of King William III and Queen Mary and at a very good price too!
The main bonus for this spoon is the good, crisp laceback design to both the reverse of the bowl and the front of the stem. Original marriage initials "GB" "GT" engraved in block can be found to the reverse stem that has the additional feature of "ears" to the lobed terminal.
The London hallmarks are part worn, but the date letter for 1692 and the top half of the distinctive "LC" maker's mark for the specialist spoonmaker Lawrence Coles are just visible. The spoon itself is in fine condition with crisp decoration.
