This is a lovely example of a Georgian period novelty silver caddy spoon in the form of a jockey cap with a wide, brimmed peak and made by the fine maker Samuel Pemberton.

Jockey Cap caddy spoons are among the most iconic tea caddy spoon forms and remain a "must-have" for any collection. The earliest were produced in 1797 and so this is a first-period example dating from the start of the 19th century.

The spoon has clever straight chasing around the crown and peak representing the panels of a cap and a button to the top. The spoon remains free from engraving and a major bonus are the hallmarks with the date letter and maker's mark present (often they are missing) to the inside of the crown. A fine example in excellent condition.
