Silver-gilt Pierced Bowl Caddy Spoon, 1871
Sold
Caddy Spoon - Gilt; pierced bowl - London 1871 by Barnards - 10cm long; 18g - YS/9573
This is a beautiful Victorian silver caddy spoon which unusually for the period, has a pierced bowl. It has an attractively decorated handle and the all over gilding gives it an opulent appearance.
Edward Barnard & Sons were one of the largest London-based silver manufactures, but caddy spoons made by them are pretty scarce and the design of this one is quite unique. This top quality, antique caddy spoon is in fine condition throughout with the hallmarks to the reverse of the bowl being partly cut through, but not spoiled by the piercing.
