Caddy Spoon - Cast; Overlapping Leaves with Gilt Bowl - London 1848 - 8.8cm long; 21g - RO/9672

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a very fine example of a typically good quality caddy spoon from the Chawner & Company workshop. This cast silver spoon has a bowl of over-lapping leaves with a gilt finish and a vacant cartouche to the handle. It has a good, hefty weight and is in excellent condition. Interestingly the "GA" maker's mark for George Adams (owner of Chawner & Co.) has been overstamped with the letter "E" (presumably an attempt by a retailer to hide the origins of the spoon), although the conjoined circle outline of the original maker's mark is still visibile.

See Norie "Caddy Spoons: An Illustrated Guide" plate 26e for an identical example made by George Adams.
