This form of silver caddy spoon was popularised by the Sheffield makers during the latter years of the 18th century with Nathaniel Smith & Company being prominent among them.
The spoon has an elongated, fluted bowl and a pointed handle that includes a raised area to use as a thumb rest. The full set of Sheffield hallmarks are spread either side of the bowl and includes the NS&Co mark of the maker. This caddy spoon is in fine condition throughout.
