Scottish Silver Spout Tea Strainer, Edinburgh 1877
£220.00
Spout Teastrainer - Edinburgh 1877 by James Mckay - 5cm diameter; 2.6cm high; 26g - TR/5797b
This is a rare example of a Scottish spout-hanging silver tea strainer. This form of tea strainer is scarce and this is the first Scottish example that we have come across.
This attractively shaped Victorian tea strainer was made by James McKay in Edinburgh and has a split peg for inserting inside the spout of a teapot so that when pouring the tea leaves are collected. It is in fine condition.
