Box - Rectangular - Edinburgh 1912 by William Robb of Ballater - 5cm wide x 3cm deep x 1.6cm high; 38g - HC/5746

This is a rare Scottish provincial silver pill box made by William Robb of Ballater.

This plain, rectangular box is well-made with a strong hinge and lovely gilt interior. The underside is clearly struck with Edinburgh hallmarks for 1912 and the iconic triangular punch for "Robb Ballater". This fine quality box remains in excellent condition (barely used!) with no personalised engravings.

Ballater is in the shadow of Balmoral Castle and William Robb relied on both wealthy local clientele and a regular passing tourist trade visiting this Scottish royal residence for his business.
