The Service
We are pleased to be offering a great opportunity to own a lovely quality boxed silver canteen of cutlery in the very popular Hanoverian Rattail.
This is a straight (same date & maker) service that provides for nine pieces per 8 place settings with additional serving spoons and a three piece carving set. All pieces benefit from being in a newly polished condition with no personalised engravings.
Every piece was made in Sheffield 1965 or 1966 by Cooper Brother & Sons with the knives engraved “Cooper Brother & Sons Ltd Sheffield England” to the stainless steel blades.
Hanoverian Rattail Pattern
Hanoverian Rattail was first in fashion between 1710 and 1730 and has been reproduced since the 1880’s. It was the first flatware pattern in the UK to be used for complete canteens. Due to its elegant lines and proportions it has continued to enjoy great popularity and is probably the most sought after traditional pattern. The front of each piece has a distinctive central ridge, whilst the spoons and forks have the trademark rattail extension to the handle on the reverse side of the bowl.
