Rare & Unusual Silver Hunting Horn, 1907
£650.00
Hunting Horn - London 1907 by David Keat & George Keat - 13.5cm long; 75g - LS/6959
This is a very unusual form of silver hunting horn as it is much shorter than standard examples and yet it blows just as well - ideal for keeping in a jacket pocket.
This Edwardian hunting horn was made by the specialist wind instrument makers Henry Keat & Sons and retailed by Kohler & Sons - as engraved to the inside of the bell with their London Piccadilly address. This rare example of a silver hunting horn is made from a good thick gauge of silver, remains in excellent working condition and has a loop for hanging from a chain.
Henry Keat & Sons was established in 1795 and by its centeniary in 1895 had branches in London, New York, Philadelphia and Sydney. The company continued in the Keat family until 1988 but is still going today as specialists in hunting horns. The London hallmarks on this piece include the maker's mark for David & George Keat who were the company directors during the early years of the 20th century.
