Table Spoon - Trefid - London 1707 by William Scarlett - 20cm long; 44g - RF/6143

This is a fabulous early 18th century silver trefid spoon made by one of the period's most important spoonmakers, William Scarlett.

Dating from the reign of Queen Anne, this trefid table spoon has a well defined rattail with added thread to the reverse of the bowl and contemporary to manufacture ownership initials to the reverse terminal. The letters read "I*I" (old way of writing JJ) with a star above and a curious "2" below. 

The spoon is made from the purer Britannia Standard with an excellent set of appropriate London hallmarks that include the makers "Sc" new standard mark.

This excellent spoon is in superb condition with a full bowl and fine, antique patina.
