Goblet - London 1828 by Joseph Craddock - 15.7cm high; 253g - LC/4170

This is a fabulous Georgian silver wine goblet that was originally given as a trophy for prize cattle.

It is a good-sized cup standing on a circular pedestal foot and retaining its original gilt interior. The outside is engraved: "The Agricultural Society of Herefordshire to Mr John Walker 182" (the last digit of the date is missing but is in all probability 1828 or 1829). To the other side is "Cattle Prize" and the cup was presumably given for the best Hereford cows and bulls in show.

This interesting George IV period silver goblet was made by the large worker Joseph Craddock and is in fine condition with a good patina.
