This is a beautiful George III period silver sugar vase or sweet basket in fine condition.
The basket stands on a pedestal foot and has bead mounts to the base, top rim and hinged swing handle that were fashionable during the 1770's. The cone-shaped body is pierced in a trellis pattern with an encircling engraved swag.
This stylish basket is fitted with a blue glass liner that is most likely a later replacement but fits very well and is in good order. Made by Burrage Davenport, this basket if fully London hallmarked to the underside and is in excellent condition.
