Sauce Label - Chili: Cut-cornered Rectangle - London circa 1800 by Thomas Phipps & Edward Robinson - 2.5cm wide - WG/4654
Phipps and Robinson were the premier makers of silver small work during the late 18th and early 19th centuries with wine and sauce labels a major part of their output. This silver sauce label emanates from their Gutter Lane workshop.
With a reeded, cut-cornered rectangular form, this silver sauce bottle ticket is labelled with the scarce name "Chili". It is in fine condition with the "TP/ER" maker's mark stamped to the reverse.
