Goblet - Vase-shaped with Gilt Interior - London 1820 by Paul Storr - 18.5cm high; 11cm diameter at top; 820 ml volume; 520 grams weight - SP/4800
This is a fabulous example of Paul Storr's workmanship and is the typical Regency style one would expect from this maker during the period that he supplied the Royal Goldsmiths, Rundell, Bridge & Rundell. It is a large presentation piece that these days would be ideal as a toasting goblet - the photo with the soft drinks can gives some idea of size. As a presentation piece, one would normally expect there to be some engraving, but there are none present although I suspect one has been professionally removed at some point. The interior has a rich gilding and the chased decoration is of the high quality one would expect - the acanthus leaves around the base are especially fine and the band of vine and grapes around the top is sublime. This is a fine piece of Paul Storr silver in excellent condition.
