Serving Spoons (pair) - Bacchanalian pattern - London 1886 by Wakely & Wheeler - 23.5cm long; 241g - AJ/3196

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

These are a beautiful pair of 9.25" long late Victorian silver-gilt serving spoons in one of the most sought after of all flatware patterns.

Bacchanalian pattern is a superbly detailed pattern that was originally designed in 1812 by Thomas Stothard for Rundell, Bridge & Rundell and used primarily for dessert services. Each stem is decorated with a Classical scene of semi-clad revellers celebrating the festival of Bacchus: the Roman God of the grape harvest and wine. The reverse of the stem bears wine related motifs and a Bacchus mask to the base of the stem.

These good, long serving spoons are gilded all over with a rich gold plate that remains intact and the overall condition is crisp and excellent. These are top quality spoons made by Wakely & Wheeler with the additional benefit of having no personalised engravings.
