These are a fabulous quality pair of Georgian silver butter shells with a good hefty weight.
The butter dishes were made by Michael Plummer in the latter years of the 19th century and bear original engraved crests to the flat handles. Exquisitely formed as scallop shells, these dishes each stand on three whelk feet and are superb examples of their type. They remain in excellent condition.
