Cast Georgian silver candlesticks are generally found in one of several distinct patterns, however this pair are distinct in that instead of the typical shell to each corner, they are decorated with a wavy motif - innovation that was typical of John Cafe, the pre-eminent specialist candlestick maker of the mid-18th century.

These lovely looking candlesticks have a good hefty weight and carry their original removable sconce nozzles that ease the cleaning of spent wax. The underside of the bases are struck with London hallmarks, one punch to each length and partial marks to the capitals and nozzles.

These are a very fine pair of antique silver candlesticks that remain in fabulous condition.
