Tea Canisters (pair) - Chinoiserie - London 1753 by WM - 14.5cm high; 300g combined weight - MN/5834

This is a lovely pair of George II period silver tea caddies decorated in the Chinoiserie style.

The cylindrical canisters are chased with Chinese scenes among floral scrolls. They have pull-off covers that would have doubled up for measuring just the right amount of tea for the pot. The underside are hallmarked with full sets of London hallmarks for 1753 and the maker's mark WM crowned - this unattributed mark is shown as Grimwade 3894.

These tea canisters are in excellent condition throughout with crisp decoration.
