Cafe au Lait Pots (pair) - Taper Cylindrical - London 1968/9 by Hilary Norman - 28cm high; 2170g - VL/1991
The little known lady maker, Hilary Norman, excelled herself with these two magnificent silver pots. They are a really imposing duo with a very hefty weight of 70 tr.oz. and impressive tall appearance. Each one is engraved with a lion erased crest above the motto "Semper Fidelis" (always faithful). These fine looking pots are made for use in combination: one for holding black coffee and the other for holding hot milk. They are in the early 18th century style and even have removable hinge pins, akin to the originals, to be able to take off the tall witch's hat covers. A fine attention to detail is the brown leather covered handles to protect the user from heat. They are in superb condition and have a fine patina.
